What is a Grade Calculator?
A grade calculator helps students determine their current, predicted, or needed grades. It supports weighted grading (different categories have different importance), final exam calculations (what score you need on the final to get your desired grade), and simple averages (equal-weight assignments).
Whether you're trying to figure out your current standing in a class or planning how hard to study for finals, this calculator gives you clear, actionable numbers.
How Grade Calculation Works
📊 Weighted Grade
Grade = Σ(Score × Weight) ÷ Σ(Weight)
Each category (homework, exams, etc.) has a weight. Your grade in each category is multiplied by its weight, then summed and divided by total weight.
🎯 Final Exam Score
Need = (Target − Current×(1−w)) ÷ w
Where w = final exam weight. This tells you exactly what score you need on the final to achieve your desired course grade.
📝 Simple Average
Average = Σ(Scores) ÷ Count
Simple unweighted average of all scores. Every assignment counts equally.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate my weighted grade?
Multiply each category's score by its weight, sum the products, and divide by total weight.
What do I need on my final?
Needed = (Desired − Current × (1 − Final Weight)) ÷ Final Weight. Enter your numbers above for an instant answer.
What if weights don't add to 100%?
The calculator normalizes weights proportionally so they effectively total 100%.
How do letter grades convert to percentages?
A = 93–100%, B = 83–86%, C = 73–76%, D = 60–69%, F = below 60%. See the full chart above.
Can I use this for any class?
Yes. Enter your categories and weights from your syllabus. Works for any percentage-based grading system.
